Yesterday I changed out my old burnt up gasket for the new nomex gasket from the dealer. I read and read on the subject and then settled on Bubba Tim's site instructions for gasket replacement. I followed the directions with a few minor exceptions. First, I put the new gasket in the clothes dryer for 1/2 hr on high. Second, when I sprayed the new gasket AND the edges of the cooker and let them get tacky. I put the gasket on and it came out great. My experience with laminate really helped. It's curing now and this evening I will do some chicken thighs, corn bread, and roasted asparagus. Thanks to the advice on the forum and a shout out to Bubba Tim.

I too have gasket problems - you mentioned nomex, I take it that's not the same as what came with the egg?
Where do you get the nomex gasket?
What did you use to glue it to the egg?
Anything else you think might help!
Cheers :cheer: -
What came with the egg is felt and a slate grey color. The nomex is white and is available usually from the dealer or from BGE Central. I used 3M 77 spray on adhesive just like in Bubba Tim's write up. If you go to Bubba Tim and Little Chef Green Book.com and click on projects it will take you through the entire process.
when I sprayed the gasket I used my workbench and laid it flat then sprayed and let it get tacky. I also sprayed the edge of the egg base and lid. A good way to cut the gasket is to put it around the egg like a belt and then cut it with about one inch overhang.
The whole thing took an hour. Good luck and if you have a question ask on the forum and ther will be expert advice for you. :P -
After a few high temp cooks the nomex shrinks a little, and you are left with a gap where the gasket meets up with itself. That is the reason for running it through the dryer before installing. The nomex stands up to heat much better than the old gray felt.
