I just took the upper gasket off cause it was headed there. Got chick wings on and see some leaking. Is this going to prove to be a challange keeping temps around 350. On large marge, which you all know is my new. Still learning it.
Got as boy coming over, third date and he knows about the eggs. He is intrigued. He is also somewhat of a foodie!!
Thanks all and happy Friday!!!

    Molly,

You can control the egg by the lower vent alone and a poor gasket or no gasket should not be a problem at all for a 350° dome.

You might a good amount of smoke exiting around the gasket but that is not feeding the lump.

    Have fun.

My gasket has been toast for about 8 months with ZERO problems. I can do low and slows with my Guru and have no problems holding temps.

Have a new Nomex unit...actually had it for months...just too lazy to do the work to put it on, cuz with the exception of a nice soft landing for the lid, I can't tell a difference.

    Take your time...

I don't think you'll have a problem. I've been cooking without a gasket for over a year now and done 3-4 overnighters with no temp control unit (on calm weather nights) and had no problem at all.
A little smoke leaking around the middle is just a reason to close the daisy wheel a little bit.

    Molly,

I can hold 220 without a gasket on a large. 350* is no problem.
