We are to pick up our new BGE tomorrow. I've wanted one for a long time now. I'm so excited!! Any advice for someone just starting out? I've never seen anyone cook on one but I've heard and read about how great they are. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Linda,
This forum has a vast wealth of cooking knowledge. Check the recipes on this webpage for some of the best food you can fix. It would be hard to beat a Spatchcock Chicken, the way TNW has shown for your first meal. Go to (The Naked Whiz)'S webpage for that.

  • Linda,
Advice? Fire it right up & get some steaks & grill them & have a drink and toast your new grill, may you have a long & enjoyable life together!
    Cheers

    Linda,
You are both going to love it. The first thing I had my husband do is build a cart, of course after eating a few meals on it. He did a great job the extra work space is nice to have. I bought my guy a radio shack remote meat thermometer. It worked great. Reason for remote: In the winter we won't have to go out in the bitter cold to check temp. Anything and everything we have made has been great.
If you have any stoneware I made some cheesy potatoes on the egg. They were yummy. You would need indirect heat for some cooks so a platesetter is something to buy. Enjoy and kick up the excercise. This egg will make the pounds pack on.

Linda,[p]Welcome to the forum and Egg family! You'll love cooking on it and the meals it helps you cook![p]I go with something easy just to get up and running. The recommendation of TNW's spathcocked chicken is a good idea.[p]Also, check out TimM's website as it has a good section for new egg owners.
