Oklahoma Eggfest Rum Cake

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
We had a customer come to the store today that had been at the Oklahoma Eggfest. He bought his first BGE. What sold him was the Rum Cake he had at Eggfest. I told him I would try to track down the recipe. Does anyone know who made the Rum Cake? Thanks so much. Christy Grigsby, Everything Barbeque.

Hey Christy, Yes the above is my recipe. The only thing I would change is....the glaze is an "eyeball" thing. Boil just til it starts getting syrupy on the back of the spoon. Then, slowly pour over the cake. I kinda tilt the mold so that the cake comes away from the sides and lets the rum get under it.
By the way...if I sold him on it....do I get commission? LOL

Hope he enjoys. Please have him post if he has questions.

    Christy,

I had to laugh when I read why the customer bought the Egg. Kim's rum cake is delicious and it would sell me also. The only problem I have is mine doesn't turn out as good as hers... :P :woohoo:

Now don't get me wrong mine are good but Kim's are off the charts... :);)B)

thanks for the compliments. I've had nearly 16 years to perfect this. I got it from my youngest 1st grade teacher. The only mistake one could make....NEVER use "light butter".

    See you guys around.

Hey Kim, is it necessary to grease a silicone bundt pan?

you know...I really don't know. But...I'm not willing to take a risk with something I want to turn out perfect, especially if I don't have the time to run it twice. Let me know it you do it differently.
