Further down the forum I read about using Mapp gas to start your BGE. Is it available in small cylinders like propane? Where do you aim the flame to get the charcoal going? Does it spead up the ignition process significantly? Thanks for your help.

Mark,[p]Yes, it comes in small cylinders. I get mine at Home Depot for around $7.00...[p]I aim the torch about 2" from the top of the charcoal. I start the charcoal in two small spots. It usually takes 30 to 45 seconds to get them lit. It's fast and easy...[p]HTH,[p]Ryan

Mark,[p]As Ryan said, just hold the torch in a couple of spots, alternating between the two, for about 30 seconds. It's an easy way to start the lump. [p]Pout

You can get this setup at Home Depot for about $40. I haven't kicked the first cylinder of gas. I've had it for about two years and use it every week or two.

    Mark,
I got mine at Home Depot for $35.00 I believe. I use it all the time and have not drained the first cylinder yet, cooking an average of 3 times per week. Of course I had to purchase one after my brother (Pout) showed me his. Only thing you need to beware of is there can be some sparks flying which can sting your arm a bit, but I'm now used to this happening.
