What a great day! A bit on the cool side but still a great day.
I rubbed this brisket up...

Fired up the Egg about 8 a.m. and set it up...

Temp held steady at 225 until mid afternoon. Then it kept dropping. I couldn't understand why. So I removed the set up and brisket to look down in the fire box.
Ah, Ding Ding here didn't put in enough lump for an 8 hour cook! For the first time, I had to re-lump to get the cook done. It was finished about 4 p.m. and wrapped in foil for 15 minutes before carving...

All carved. Just a thing of beauty. Check out the nice smoke ring...

We had several Aunties, Uncles, Cousins etc. in for Dinner. Most had never even seen or heard of a BGE. I wasn't sure what my very fussy Sister and BIL were going going to say. Well, I got a great big AOK from them. I kind of surprised me actually. After dinner we all loaded up to go see my son as Danny Zuko in his High School production of Grease...

Here he is, "all alone at the drive-in movie"

You're the one that I want...

When the day was done, the family now thinks my investment in a BGE wasn't such a bad deal after all!
And as always, my son Jeff blew them away with his talents. (Man I am proud of him).

Looks good !
I have my two lil piggies (butts) egging comfortably at just under 250 right now.
Hope I have enough lump in!
Today is "finish the fence day" !
Pics of the lil piggies coming later.
Cheers -
Lessons learned. I'm glad they embrased your obsession!
Proud papa, makes you feel like you did something right in raising them, huh?Molly

Nice looking cook. Good smoke ring also. Next time fill your lump to the top of the fire ring. You should get 24hrs or more with a large BGE at 225.You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP

That is a great looking brisket! Kudos to your son, that seems like a fun play to be in.

Tim,
Really nice brisket. Did you use smoking wood? I have a performer in my family too.

Used a mix of Hickory and Maple for the Brisket. Also sprayed with Apple juice every half hour or so.
I'm sure you are proud of your Performer as well.
My kid never ceases to amaze me. We've known for years he could sing. His a hell of a guitar player as well. But we didn't know he could dance too! He is hoping to go to Berkley in Boston for vocals and jazz when he is done HS. (he better get a scholarship! I don't think OSAP works down there!) -
Great cook and obviously a very talented son.
Confession: I played Danny in the 1981 Alpena High School (Michigan) production of Grease--I was a junior in high school at the time. Shortly thereafter, my family moved to western PA; that began my Southernly migration that has finally landed me and family in the Magnolia State. -
Obviously, you got a bit on talent as well!
Memories at least. I expect to see some "summer lovin'" BGE cooks posted here! :woohoo:
