Awesome Desert
Tar Heel Smokey Mon

I must pass along a recipe I tried last week. I'm not a baker but this was pretty awesome. Cooked it in the oven, not in the egg. If you like mangoes, and they are now in season, plentiful at the grocery and cheap, you've gotta check this out....And it's so easy...Naked Whiz recommended on another thread that I use the plate setter and bake it on the egg next time. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Doing it again for my mom's 70th something birthday. Oops, gotta check the baby backs![p]Mango Cobbler (with vanilla ice cream)

Tar Heel Smokey Mon, Simply amazing coincidence. I just pulled mine from the oven 2 hours ago! Man you are right. This one is already printed out and in my "keeper" file.[p](I also used the oven - this time.)

Forgot to add, I used peaches from my tree instead of the mangoes, as the recipe suggests as an alternative.

The Other Dave,[p]Yep, small world. Man, you've just gotta try it with mangoes! I like peaches, but mangoes are my favorite. My dad is a bit picky and tomorrow I'm just gonna let him assume it is peaches...

Tar Heel Smokey Mon,
It says mango covered with water. Did you put the water in the cobbler? It is confusing since it says if you used canned, omit water and use the syrup from the can. But then, how much water if using fresh?[p]TNW
The Naked Whiz -
The Naked Whiz, I can't answer for Tar Heel, but I can confidently say the "bread" potion of this recipe is the key. Anything you use of "about" the right proportions will come out awesome. The peaches I used were from perserves/jam I canned that failed to jell. It is a VERY forgiving recipe in my opinion.

The Naked Whiz,[p]Yo! Since I sliced the mango in well in advance (peeling a mango can be tedious) of making the cobbler, I did cover with water and sugar as given in the recipe. When I made the cobbler, I drained off the water and added a bit more sugar on the mangoes before mixing with the solid ingredients. I agree with Dave, this is a probably a pretty idiot proof recipe - it's proof that I didn't muck it up.
