I HAVE A MESS OF JOHNSONVILLE BRATS THAT I AM GOING TO COOK UP TODAY, AND I REMEMBER SOMEONE STARTING A THREAD ABOUT BOILING THESE IN BEER BEFORE THROWING ON THE EGG. ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? I HAVE 2 7 1/2 LB BUTTS THAT ARE COMING ALONG JUST FINE AND A BIG PAN OF BAKED BEANS THANKS TO THE HELP OF YOU GUYS COOKING RIGHT NOW, SO THESE ARE NOT THE ONLY THING TO EAT TODAY, SO I AM WILLING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW WITH THEM. HAPPY 4TH TO ALL.

SETH,[p]Is there any other way to do brats? Make yourself a quick soup of beer, sauerkraut, and some chopped onions. Optionally, a splash or two of tabasco.[p]Bring it up to a boil and drop in your brats. In a few minutes, they will be completely cooked. Now toss them on the Egg at about 400° and char them up a bit.[p]Serve with course ground mustard and the drained kraut and onions as toppings on real sausage rolls.[p]This is the original Char-Woody firecracker brat recipe and we love it.[p]K~G

Seth,[p]Here's what I do:[p]1)Place brats, beer (some do a 50/50 of beer and water - not me though) and chopped opions in a pot, bring to a boil, then simmer for about 30 minutes. Do not let the brats split during the simmer.[p]2)Pull the brats from the pot and grill, just like a hot dog. Place a lid on the pot to keep the beer mixture warm.[p]3)Place the brats back into the pot when grilled, keep until you're ready to serve.[p]Mayber Painter will see this and add "local knowledge" to the thread.[p]Puj
