Banker John and I have been discussing hosting a get-together for eggers here in Florida. We've decided to hold the gathering at Silver River State Park outside Ocala, FL. Mr. Hyde and I are going to drive down there for a picnic tomorrow and check everything out. We may even take a few pics to share![p]There are 53 campsites ($15/night) and 8 cabins ($85/night) available. We've reserved a large covered pavilion and have gotten permission to bring our cookers (we have a small and Banker John has a medium). It won't be like the traditional eggfests where cookers are there and folks use them and buy the demo cookers (unless we can convince a local dealer to participate), but instead will be a fun gathering of folks who are just kickin' back, cooking, camping, paddling, and just plain having fun and spending time getting to know each other in the great outdoors.[p]Reservations can be made online through ReserveAmerica (see the link on the Silver River State Park) or you can call their 800# (800-326-3521). If you're considering a campsite rather than a cabin, give me a day to check out the facility....there's really no way with each individual family going through ReserveAmerica to make sure that we are all near each other. What I'd like to do is check out the layout of the sites and then make a recommendation for which "loop" to choose once we actually visit tomorrow. At least if we all end up in the same "loop" we can sort of migrate from campsite to campsite and visit and safely know that we're all part of the same "family"![p]Any and all ceramic cooking enthusiasts are invited! The invitation is NOT limited to just Floridians, but to anyone who wants to make the trip. As far as we're concerned, the more the merrier! [p]We would like to get a head count of folks who plan to come, just so we know to keep an eye out for you and so we can plan a few cooks. Since the eggs won't be provided like in the other 'fests, it'd be good to know how many folks can bring their travel-sized eggs and even if you don't have one of the smaller versions, I'm sure we can also work out an opportunity for you to cook something should you want to. I'd also be fun to know what everybody is planning to cook.[p]So, come and join the adventure![p]Tonia

    QBabe,
That may be a good weekend for me...The Gators are at LSU so no trip to Gainesville. Depending on the family schedule, I'd like to maybe head up for Saturday...I'm not too confident camping with a toddler under three and a 4 month old! Ryan

    Gatortail,
I will have an 11 month old at the time of the Nature Coast EGG camping trip, along with a 3 year old. The cabins have A/C and sleep up to 6. You may want to consider this option.[p]Banker John
