really slumming it this week, 10 bucks makes 5 or 6 days worth of meat spread. boiled down ground pork butt and chops, a little cloves, allspice, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and bells turkey seasoning. kinda between spam and deviled ham spread but made with real ingrediants, my new boat food

MMMM meat spread,,,sure beats that canned tuna sandwiches I'm eating for lunch

Hey Pat buy tuna in the pouch it's much better and you don't drain it.

Yep, at least you know what you put in it...
-
At least there is no hearts, hoofs, tongues and god knows what else in your sandwich.LOL It looks good.

thats all the good stuff that goes into spam, the stuff that doesnt go into spam goes into jello. dont ever visit the jello plant, place i worked at one summer would gag a maggot
maybe i should work on that next  fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I'd like to catch them myself but we priced a charter when Steve was down,,$6000 for a 20 hr. trip plus tip  That works out to $1000 a cook??
I'll look for the pouch, thanks Larry :cheer: -
That's kinda scary... It was a dessert staple for many years and I can't ever recall getting sick on the stuff. Are you talking about the stuff that gets mixed with hot water and then cooled to a gelatin?
-
thats the stuff, i can still remember how bad the place smelled. they had a really nice lunch place inside and they did not serve jello in there, glad i worked away from the oozing pit of who knows what and stayed in the boiler room. once they break it down into powder form its pretty sterile and safe but watching trucks pull in with orange and green fluids dripping out the bottom is an experience you dont want to have.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

fishlessman,
I worked in a packing plant on the Spam machines...speaking of gagged maggots

Here in French part of Canada we call that "creton" great on toast and ploye's....yeah another french thing!
-
What, no floor sweepings?
-
And they don't charge extra for the meat.LOL

Thanks, I guess I'll never see it with the same eye... (with no malice).

its called gorton here, i think most here is made with water, most up there is made with milk, i used both
used just a little too much allspice, didnt realize how much salt increases the flavor of allspice until it was too late, the mustard seemed to fix it up just right. fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Must beg to differ. Heart and tongue make really good sandwiches. Cooked right, heart can be like brisket, and tongue becomes very smooth, but is fairly rich.
Don't know about hoofs, but just found a pretty good meat shop thats selling "cow's feet." I looked it up, and found both a Florentine dish called "buttered cows feet," and a mexican soup that uses the feet.
I mentioned seeing them to my wife  , and she said "Don't you dare!" -
I'm with your wife I will pass on the feet.
