bonless leg of lamb

I am about to try a bonless leg of lamb with aplate setter that I just bought. Should you sear it first and then put the setter in ? I saw big daddy. recipe where he uses the plate setter but it doesn't mention this . i assume thats because you don't really need to sear it / What do you think
