Covering the BGE

We are new to the BGE but already love it. My husband is curious as to how long we should wait after cooking to put the cover on the BGE??? Will it melt if we put it on while still warm??

I usually wait till it gets cool. But I will put it on warm, not hot. I would wait until The dome gets down to 100* anyway.
