Cast Iron cook
Florida Grillin Girl
Posts: 5,024
Yesterday I decided it was time for my first cast iron cook on the egg. I browned some pot roast in the dutch oven, cooked up some onion, garlic and carrots. Placed it all in the egg with some potatoes, red wine, beef broth and thyme and rosemary. (Little Chef gave these same instructions to someone yesterday) Cooked at 250 for 3 hours with hickory and didn't open the egg once.

This was the day we had yesterday - perfect!! 83 degrees and low humidity and hardly a cloud in the sky - perfect egging weather!

Then threw on some mystery pork that was 99 cents a lb at Sweetbay. I used RichardFL's Indian River Pixie Dust.
Note the cocktail sitting on the grid - hey it was late and we were having fun:

Nice evening in sunny Florida!

Looks great Faith! Your right, the weather has been great. It's only a degree or two warner here in Ft. Myers.

Hi Faith;
The weather here in Jacksonville has been awesome as well. That is a great looking meal; I would like to try this one; would you mind sharing the approx amounts of red wine and beef broth you used?
Chris -
I used 2 cups of beef broth and 1 1/2 cups of drinkable red wine (Robert Mondavi).
