How many have set off their explosive gas alarm??

So, how many of you have set off your explosive gas alarm? Hmm?

I was doing some testing that involved/needed an environment with no wind. I was burning some charcoal in the garage. The garage is detached, sort of. The garage is separated from the house by a breezeway but the attic connects to the house's roof, and evidently there is enough of an air path for combustion products to enter the house. I thought the dang thing was broken until I took it outside and it shut up. Note that I didn't set of the CO alarm. It was the explosive gas alarm that went off.

Ah, the life of a charcoal tester. Thank GOD the wife (yes, the wife who....) is in Vegas at the moment. Next time (what? you expect me to learn from this?) I'll open the garage door a bit more.

  • I have set off many things with explosive gas (fights, blame games, arguments with the wife, mortified looks, etc.) but never an alarm! I know I shouldn't laugh at my own jokes, but that is pretty funny!

Seriously, thanks for all you do. Fantastic site!

Well, our dog set off the propane detector in our RV a few times.

He used to like to sleep against the kitchen cabinets (he was blind from glaucoma) and often the "business end" was pointed at the detector, which was at floor level.

We considered renting him out to other RVers for testing purposes....
