Guru Golf Club vs Mapp gas
Dukester
Posts: 36
I've been planning to get a Mapp gas torch to light the lump but I received a Guru Golf Club as a gift and now I'm confused. Can anyone give me thier opinion on the golf club vs. mapp gas? Can I use Mapp gas with the club? Any help is greatly appreciated.

the guru site shows both mapp and propane on the golf club, yellow tanks are mappfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

I have a MAPP w/ Berzomatic TS4000 head. I also have a guru. Problem I find is that the TS4000 is either on or off, there is no way to adjust the gas flow and therefore the pressure going to the guru is so strong that it blows out the flame.
Solution is to have a head that has an adjustable flow. They are out there, but after 5 years with what I have I just do not use the guru.
If I ever have to replace my current nozzle, I will get an adjustable flow one. -
I have the standard Mapp gas trigger torch, the flame will lock in place if needed, I can also use to for other things like solder copper pipe and other things. Nothing fancy just a good working item.

I have the same head for my MAPP bottle, and while it works in a jiffy, I always make sure to protect my eyes and wear an old shirt (already full of burn holes) to ward off the inevitable shower of sparklers (depends on the lump). With the only option being WFO, the control factor boils down to distance (proximity)... Have fun! 8 - )

Solved the spark problem a few years back.
Get a 5" cap that goes on some hanging lamps. It has a hole in it. Take the nozzle tip off the MAPP tip and place a small hose clamp, then washer with hole large enough, 1/2"?, metal cap, washer to just fit on nozzle and then re-attach the tip.
Snug it all up and tighten the hose clamp. Yes some lump still spark-mesquite- is bad, but it is fewer sparks jumping very far.

Thank you! I got a good visual on that! Guess I'll have to scour the stores for a cap of that size. And now what/who am I to blame for the holes in my shirts!... I quit the cigs over 4 years ago! 8 - )

The inevitable pinhole burns
All down the front of my favorite satin shirt. -
You can also use a metal funnel as a quard.
