First let me say Thank You!!, to all the folks here on the forum for all the info, ideas, tricks, recipes, knowledge, and other stuff you each share. With several gas grills, two brinkman water smokers, two NB Banderas,an offset on a trailer I could not see buying an BGE just yet. But my loving wife and three daughters saw different. So for Father's Day I recieved a BGE.My son in law,DrEgg saw to it that I got some of the extras that make things easier. First cooking:Two whole chickens,a pork tenderloin, veggies, and cocoanut stuffed bananas, second cooking:BBQ chicken pizza, tonight: pork steaks, mushrooms, bananas, and a head of cabbage that my neighbor ate all of.I spent this evening thinking of an easy way to box it up and get in the cook trailer so I can carry it and share this ceramic goddess with others.Life is Good, and I am lucky, but now I must go walk off the bananas. Thanks Again from a New Egger,Poppasam

• poppasam,
would you so kindly share your recipe for coconut stuffed bananas..........thanks

• Use a firm banana (do not peel) and split it down the middle---do not cut all the way through the bottom of the rind. Stuff little pieces of butter (the real stuff is best) in the slit. Sprinkle with either cinnamon sugar or brown sugar. Crumble up a coconut macaroon and stuff it full. Wrap in in aluminum foil and cook on the egg until soft. The temperature tonight was about 300 degrees and it probably cooked for about 20 - 25 minutes. We buy the macaroons from BJ's in the bakery. My wife just made this recipe up and we really enjoyed it.

poppasam,
This should be printed in every newspaper in the country. Congrats!

• Big John,It was an experiment. I cut out the core and filled it with a mixture of onion soup mix, butter, worcestershire sauce salt ,and pepper. Wrapped it in foil and cooked for about 3hours at 300 degrees. Didn't taste done to me so I put it back on for about 30 min. more. My neighbor ate the whole thing. I'm not a big cooked cabbage eater but this tasted mighty good. I'm gonna try some variations later and I'll post the results.

poppasam,[p]It is always funny to hear people's stories of how they came to the EGG. In your case, You had sone serious equipment and experience prior to your purchase. For me and many others, I had only really used a gas grill.[p]Keep em' Smokin'![p]<omg src="http://webpages.charter.net/dmetz/smokey.gif">
