Houston, TX: Where to buy Cedar or Cypress lumber

Hi,

I have had the Large Egg with the compact table for a few weeks now and it's time to make some modifications to the design :)

Does anyone know where in the Houston area (preferably North of the Beltway or near Westchase but I am willing to drive) I can buy some cypress or cedar lumber - just 2x2s and 1x4s?

I can buy online but I have to buy a lot and pay shipping and I only need a few pieces...

Thanks!

UKMatt

Some lowes stores have good cedar supplies. Also, google cedar lumber houston and you should find couple specialty lumber yards for cedar. It's common enough around Texas that good lumber yards will carry what you need.

Just note two types of cedar around, USA and China...no surprise, China stuff is cheaper and lesser quality. tom

Montalbano Lumber (713-228-9011)on Houston Avenue has cedar but no cypress.

Bison Lumber in Conroe has no cypress but can order the cedar.

    Like Tom said, maybe Lowes.

If you find yourself in the Spring area, drop on by the Chicken Ranch and say hello.

    Good luck with your project.

Thanks for the tips! I'll take a look in Conroe at the weekend...

I'm pretty new around here - what's the Chicken Ranch?
