Nomex upgrade from factory ?

I have a friend interested in a BGE, and I believe I heard somewhere that you can purchase an egg with Nomex as a factory upgrade. Is this correct?

    The only people to answer that with any kind of certainty would be the factory. Give them a call and see if it can be done.

    Kinda doubt that story...BGE sells quantities to independent wholesalers who then resell to a network of dealers so getting one special BGE made in Mexico to someone in Anywhere, USA is highly unlikely. This isn't like ordering option packages on an expensive automobile. He could buy a BGE from a dealer's showroom and then contact Atlanta and buy a Nomex and retrofit himself or maybe a good dealer might do the retrofit as a condition of the sale.

    Its not the Felt gasket failing it is the adhesive that they use.

    It's my understanding that this amounts to a nomex gasket included with the egg and you still must remove the felt and install the nomex. Unless you can persuade your dealer to do it.
