hi gang,[p]i would like to introduce myself to the forum. I am a 36 year old father of two w/ a beautiful wife and a happy home! I ordered my BGE today and should have it by mid next week! I just finally got tired of crappy tasting food cooked on my old faithful gas grill and decided it was time to try something new. I was browsing around the barbecues galore store and saw the BGE in the corner and asked the sales guy "what the hell is that". well, to make a long story short, I decided I had to have this thing that burned lump charcoal and home i went to find the deal! anyway, i can't wait to get my hands on this thing and taste some real food. i've read many of your posts and i'm quite certain i'll be addicted once i get some cooking time under my belt.[p]thanx,[p]Da_Butcher

  • Da_Butcher,
welcome to the club. .. everything you need to know you'll find right here. . ..as i am fond of saying, if i did it on the stove, or in a pot, or in the oven, it now goes in the egg. . .[p]start simple with whole chickens (either beer butt or spatchcocked), burgers, steaks done the trex method. . . you will be thrilled and spoiled by the results. . .[p]the learning curve is real quick, particularly learning to control temps with the dampers (top and bottom). ..make sure you got the daisy wheel top. . .you can adjust temps by single degrees, its that accurate. . . [p]enjoy[p]max

Da_Butcher,[p]Welcome. I was really hoping you were going to say you were a butcher in real life, rather than just playing one in the kitchen like the rest of us. Many questions about meats come up and sometimes it would be nice to get an experts opinion. I think Rumrunner has had something to do in that business, not sure about that. Anyway, I digress, welcome.[p]Da_Tim M

  • Da_Butcher, Buying an "Egg" is the best spent money you ever expended. You will not believe how DIFFERENT the food tastes!! Try a "spatchcocked" chicken on your initial cook. WOW! Incredible difference! see www.nakedwhiz.com on trying
    this recipe. WELCOME!

  • thank you all for the nice replies....[p]can't wait for the BGE!!![p]regards,[p]Da_Butcher

    Tim M,
About 36 years worth. Taking a rest now, but me thinks it's time to get my hands dirty again. I'm always home, email, for any questions that one might have.
