Any suggestions on Salmon

Ok, wanna do some Salmon tonight. I've never done it so I want some good advice. What wood chunks should I use? How to marinate? I was thinking of some Soy or Teriyaki, butter and lemon over lump with either apple or cherry at about 225? Any thoughts would be appreciated.[p]Thanks!

  • Beer-n-Eggs (formerly BubbaGump),[p]I just did it for the first time, and mad max offered me some good advice. I just had the filets in olive oil, lemon juice, and sprinkled with some creole seasoning. Direct at 400 on an oiled grid, skin down first, then flipped (the tricky part) for about 5 minutes, then back over until done (app 140..just a couple more minutes).[p]They were fantastic.

<p />Beer-n-Eggs (formerly BubbaGump),[p]If you would prefer hot smoked instead of grilled, check the link below from a few days ago. Comes out perfect every time.[p]K~G[p]

KennyG,[p]I like those temps for my salmon fillets as well. I am a big fan of Jack Daniels chips for salmon though.[p]Keep em Smokin,

Jethro,[p]JD chips on salmon huh? I'll have to give it a try. I usually use them on beef or jerky and do like the flavor. [p]On another note "Butch" dropped off a butt to my dealer on Saturday. That man knows how smoke a butt, it was fantastic, as was his sweet and spicy sauce. You were sooo correct about his sauces. Thanks again.[p]Chuck

Jethro,[p]Great idea! I've got a half bag of JD barrel chips but have never tried them on salmon. Next time out...[p]K~G

Chuck,[p]I do love his sauce and so does everyone I know who has tried them. The bad part is when I have company over and set out the Butch's and other sauces, I kinda gasp in horror when ever someone grabs the Butch's. If I could get it easier it might not hurt so bad.[p]Let me what it would cost to ship some via USPS from New Jersey to Chicago. You've got me going now.[p]Keep em Smokin,

KennyG,[p]It is hard to go wrong with salmon. I've enjoyed the JD barrel chips with salmon. I just use a half a handful or so.[p]Hope you like it.[p]Regards,
