<p />I did a butt over the weekend which was just so good I had to share.[p]For the newbies in the crowd, this is a very forgiving meat and type of cook once temps are stabilized.[p]Yellow mustard and some "Dust" from the boys.[p]No leftovers.[p]Ribs YB style this weekend. Yippeeeeeeee[p]Mick

  • MickeyT,[p]How many lbs is that butt?

Tony, those RINGS are used to regulate the temp of the egg made by mickey t himself! they work great by the way!

Tony,[p]That there butt was an 8 pounder. Just over 20 hours with lump to spare on a medium.[p]Like Vegas Slim says, those are rings I designed over three years ago to replace what came with the egg. They work good on over nighters as well as 350 cooks.[p]Mick
  • MickeyT,[p]Thanks.
I just got a medium last week and will be trying a pulled-pork in the near future (maybe July 4th).
BTW, how do the rings work? Where do they go?

    MickeyT,
That is a thing of beauty. Look at that color! Sounds like it tasted even better than it looked. Any injecting going on with it??[p]How do you keep your table so clean?

  • Tony, The smoke rings hold the temperature like a rock on long temp cooks. Well worth the small cost, IMHO.

    Tony,
"Those rings" go on top of the egg, and you can leave the bottom damper wide open. It regulates the ammount of air going out of the top, thus it also regulates the ammount of air coming in the bottom. These rings are killer for low and slow, kind of like set it and forget it, although there are many here that say "it ain't barbequing ifin ya ain't tinkering with it". At least that is what i think i heard come out of Stump Baby's holler once. Anyway, I loved my egg before i got MickyT's rings, but i really really appreciate having the rings for overnite cooks, or when i want to set a nice big piece of meat on and entertain a bunch of people while cooking the best damn food they have ever eaten, and making it look real easy. If you can't tell, i highly recomend the rings, and no, i don't work for Mick!
