Poor Non-Egger making pulled pork

My best friend lives near Greenville, NC. Last night she called and said she was bringing the main dishes for a going away party for a co-worker at the hospital. Any ideas? I said. "If you had an Egg, or if I lived closer I'd recommend BBQ pork." She asked if I thought she could make it in the crockpot.
No reason why not, other than it will be average. Poor thing hasn't visited since I got my Egg. She just doesn't know. I threatened to commission a couple of butts by a fellow Egghead in NC to get her hooked. She thought that was pretty funny.
How do people live without an Egg? There was a time that pulled pork out of the crockpot would have been acceptable to me.

Can you cook it for her and FedEx it? Good excuse for you to cook and drink a few.

Erm, I had the mis-fortune of having "pulled pork" from a crock-pot. Not as bad as having a McRib for ribs, but not pulled pork as I'd care to have it.
Here's 2 things that might help. Braise the pork in an oven, and leave the pork uncovered towards the end to get something like bark. Or, cook as long as possible on a regular grill, as indirect as possible, to get some smoke. Then, place in crock-pot with just a tiny bit of water, replacing water till the meat finally is soft. -
Greenville isn't all that far from Ft. Bragg.. Tell her to bring them down and I'll cook them right for her.

I just sent her a text. That'll make her smile.

Not all that far from here either come too think of it.
As my tag line says. Have Eggs, Will Travel.. -
You're a good man. She is sitting in a nurses meeting. Policies and procedures, all administrative stuff, nothing on patient care. She sent me a text back saying she was on her way.
More like wishing she was. -
You ARE the man Pete.
