john appleby,[p]Depends on how you want them to be done. If medium-rare, I would sear at 700+ for 1.5 - 2 minutes per side, take off for 20 minutes while egg drops to 400, then put back on for about 4-5 mins per side.[p]If you want it more done, increase the cook time at 400.

john appleby,[p]We did a 2" porterhouse with the Trex method last week. Ended up searing at 700+, for 2 mins per side, let rest 20 min, then cooked at 400 for about 5 min per side. Came out great, med rare. I would probably do a little less for a 1.5 incher.
