My nephew came to visit over the weekend. He taught me how to start mey motorcycle.

I tried to ride it down the driveway. Killed it 3 times and only rode about 25 feet...and then...I did it! Rode the thing across the street into the parking lot across the way and back home. Never left 1st gear, but my nephew tells me 2nd gear is next!

He's 12 and so very proud! Just thought I'd keep you posted.

And so begins a new and wonderful chapter of your life...

Yeah clutch control is the key to control at low speeds. Also remember that like a bicycle it's hard to balance when going really slow. A great drill to practice is trying to make a tight 180* turn in a parking lot between the lines of parking spaces. You should be able to turn in a smaller area as your skills increase.

OK, so let me get this straight. I should be able to turn a 180 within the width of a parking spot?

I have a lot of work to do, and it will be fun!

NO! Maybe within 4 parking spots; meaning 2 wide and 2 deep. Like 2 pairs of spots back to back.

Much depends on the bike but the parking spots are just fun because they give you something visual to aim for and see how you're doing.

Now you see how much I know! Will work on it. Class starts in 11 days.
