Was at Home depot today and spotted a real neat item.It is a adjustable cast iron grate that will go from 14" to 20" in width and is 7 3/4" deep.Go to www.charbroil.com and check out part #4984355.Plus it is porcelain coated as well.It has a $39.00 price tag. Now I can cook down deep wit the coals or up top.Hip Hip hurray.

That is an interesting design, but with that porcelain coating, I'm not sure how well it will work cooking close to the coals, or in direct flames for extended periods of time.

Before I purchased my first Egg six years ago I had a Weber Genesis grill which had porcelain grates and within two years it burnt off and their grid was steel not cast iron. The main thing on this Char Broil thing is that you can remove the fire ring and it sets right in there on the bottom to kill that steak or go topside with it. Dam shame that two of them won't fit and if they did it would be a killer combination.

When looking at it I was wondering if 2 would work. 7.75" isn't much width.

For a large egg, a spider & medium cast iron grid would be a good setup.

Not quite. I cut out a cardboard mock up and it is about a quarter of a inch to big.Might have to go and buy one and play with it.This will be on my Wednesday to do list.Keep you all posted. If it is a no go I'll see you at the refund desk.
