I am just wondering if there might be a better use of the squirrels that are tearing up my back yard. We seem to have a bumper crop this year. Any of you introduced these little guys to Mr. Big? If so, do you have any tips on fixing them?

    Nu-Guy,
Try KOC or Teslamania. I think they are the ones that put out the recipe for Brunswick stew. KOC thought he'd died & gone to heaven with it.[p]Dr. C

Well, one of my bassets caught and ate one the other day. Started at the head and ate straight through to the tail. I wouldn't let her near me for 2 days. But you can borrow her if you like.

    Nu-Guy,
You are aware that squirrels are just tree rats with a fuzzy tail, aren't you?

MollyShark,[p]I have a couple of cats that do the same thing except the squirrels are too big for a one sitting meal so they stop half way through. Now THATS attractive. No mind though, the St. Brenard will generally finish them off as soon as he sees/smells them. I love my pets.........[p]Troy

    Gretl,
    Let me reason this out!
    1. They are actually "tree rats"!
    2. If you put 'em in the microwave, you're "nuccing" them!
Does that mean you're creating a nuclear mouse mess with a bushy tail or are you creating a "genetically altered Mighty Mouse"???[p]Very interesting!!![p]Dr. Chicken

Dr. Chicken,[p]On second thought, not in MY microwave! [p]We have rival gangs of squirrels around here, drinking, carousing, and fighting at the birdfeeder. I have sat on the deck with a Super Soaker waterpistol (too wimpy to do them any real harm) and they treat it like a carwash. Line up for baths. Then I WD-40'd the feeder pole, with hilarious results. They worked around it. Finally I switched to safflower seed from their beloved sunflower seed. They don't eat it, and neither do the birds. So I'm back to Square One. I wouldn't really nuke the little bustards but it is a rather enticing fantasy on this Thursday when I can't make the printer work....
    Cheers,
    G.

    Gretl,
Just an attempt at a little humor! Oooooo! What a mess in the micro! You'd never use it again! I would like to see the WD40 trick on the feeder pole though! I assume that's how it was used????
I've got a pellet gun you can use. Put a little muscle behind your amusement! [p]Are you sure they didn't get into the printer and mess it up so you'd have to give them a bath time???[p]Smile! It's Spring! :^)[p]Dr. Chicken

Nu-Guy,[p]Squirrel hunting in my youth was one of the greats times spent in the woods. I always ate what I shot and you can call them tree rats if you like but they are damned good. [p]Skin and rinse and pat dry. Open body cavity so they will lay flat on the grill. This may require braking rib cage open. Coat lightly with oil take a mixture of salt, black pepper and a touch of red pepper and coat well. Cook at 250* for approximately 30 minute flipping once. Test leg joint by cutting down to the joint to look for blood. If it is still running red cook another 15 minutes. You do not want to over cook them, just to the point of being done. Serve over a bed of rice and enjoy. [p]At this point you could chop them into quarters and add to Hunter Stew. [p]It makes me want to go hunting just thinking about it.[p]If you got em smoke em,[p]Elder Ward[p]
