platesetter better than aluminum pan for indirect

I'm curious about somethin' since I'm new to the eggs. For indirect, I got some fire bricks and an extra great for my large. I stood the firebricks up on edge and place one to the left and right outer edges of my bottom grate and put the extra grate on top of that. Between the 2 grates, I put an aluminum throw away pan that doubles as a drip pan and to block heat so I can cook indirectly. Is this not as good as inverting a platesetter and if not, why? Would it suffice to lay firebricks down flat, under the top grate to block more heat than an aluminum pan will. Obviously, a couple of extra firebricks are much less expensive than a platesetter.[p]Thanks o' helpful ones!

BubbaGump, you are correct in that you can get the same effect using firebricks as using a platesetter. The platesetter is just much easier to use, IMHO, and it is very nice for setting-up to cook pizzas. Also some people have found it difficult to get firebricks and/or get them cut to sizes they need for different arrangements in the BGE.
