<p />i made a 3lb whole chicken on the mini @ 350°F with my new platesetter & drip-pan on it - took 1 1/4hr to doneness dinner will be @ 6:00pm.
i also found at Marshalls a closeout of BBQ tongs $3.00, so cut the tongs in half & used portion of it with the handle to make the "Grate lifter" photos will show the shape and a rounded notch in front to allow for grid cleaning.

    Chef Arnoldi,
I take back what I posted a few days ago in response to someone asking for suggestions on ways to make the mini "work like" the bigger models. I responded with just use it for grilling.
This week, including this evening, I decided I wanted a smoked flavor to my chicken breasts. But of course I dont really want to break out a big cooker for 2 measly breasts. But being that I have a hinge problem with my mini it doesnt seal properly and temps can get haywire. So what I did was stack lump on one side of the firebox, leaving the other half empty where that part of the grate had the chicken. Results were excellent! Just finished 2 breasts with Raging River Rub with a side of pasta.
With Chef Arnoldi's inventions for the mini, and my just putting 2 minutes of thought on how to create a small indirect method with a little trouble shooting...the MINI can be used for other then grilling...only thing is just for small quantities. [p]ST

Smokin' Todd, I knew you would see the light. Actually what I have found is that if it's too big to cook on the mini, it's not too small for the large. The large and mini make an awesome pair. I also use it sometimes to cook a side dish on when I have my large loaded up. It's pretty versatile.
