Today was my first go at Chicken.
Whole Chicken w/Orange, Garlic & Brown Sugar Brine.
Sweet Orange Baste and smoked with apple and cherry chips.

I hope the eatin' was as good as the picturin'.
Brining and upright (beer-can style) poultry cooking have both been controversial here on the forum. Unlike oven-roasting, where brining makes a clear difference, brining's effect in Egg cookery is less clear. Many folks who have tried it don't seem to think it's worth the bother. Similarly, just spatchcooking a chicken and cooking flat (preferably indirect, and using a raised grill) seems to make a lot of folks happy (myself included).
Nevertheless, your cook looks spectacular and if you and your diners enjoyed it, that's what counts! -
