Darryl and his wonderful family were in the DC area, and popped by for a spell to visit. It was great meeting his wife and 3 boys. Some of you got a chance to meet them at the eggfest last year. Aint it wild how Q brings so many great people together![p]Anyway, like Tim, he came bearing gifts! Thanks Darryl.
Strickland's Gourmet Barbecue Sauce (Jefferson Georgia)
Mac's Quality Meats Mild Barbecue Sauce (Athens Georgia)
Miss Davie's Barbecue Sauce (Tiger Gerogia).[p]Never seen or heard of any of them, and it is a big treat to see something other than what they have on the shelf at the grocery store. Anybody had these before??[p]BTW Tim M, he brought extra for you.[p]Cheers

Nature Boy, if you're ever back in PG County, you should check out Franklin's, in Hyattesville. It a cafe/shop that used to be a hardware store. They have dozens of sauces from around the world.

    BluesnBBQ,
Good ol' Hyattsville. I know that place...didn't expect sauces though! Thanks. Next time I am in that neck of the woods, I'll swing by. Gotta check out that old Laurel butcher too. You gettin' geared up for jammin' at the fest?? Not too far off.[p]NB

    BluesnBBQ,
Gotta get over there. I am all "chain-stored-out". All there is around here are the same ol' chain stores. Lots of convenient shopping, but not much character![p]NB

Nature Boy, let me know when you plan to. I can also take you to a real downhome blues jam a few minutes from there, at Archie Edwards' barbershop. Check it out at www.acousticblues.com. I go there most Saturday afternoons.

Tim M:[p]You are welcome. Hope you enjoy the sauces. Each is a little different and just something for you to compair what is in your part of the country. By the way, NB let me sample some of Shake's sauce. Real good stuff - I gotta get some.[p]Tim, did NB tell you that your sauces were being held ransom for some more JD chips? <g>

    djm5x9,
Thanks again Darryl. Hey, the vinegar/mustard based sauce from Mac's, can it be used as a finishing sauce?? Or are the vinegar-based sauces mainly for pulled pork sauce?? Not really sure on the best ways to use that one. It looks great in the bottle!!

Nature Boy:[p]You are welcome. It was a pleasure meeting you, hope the wife and girls are doing better. [p]You know, I just never use sauce for finishing. Must be a dissatisfaction hold over from that old practice of boiling and baking with sauce we spoke of. I rub and slather or whatever the meat (ribs, butt or brisket) and use the sauce exclusively for dipping. That is just my preferance. If you do use as a finihing sauce, watch sugar content, time, and temperature.

Tim M:[p]If I had seen your post regarding the Jack Daniels chips prior to my leaving Atlanta, I would have thrown in a couple of bags for you guys. They are excellent smoking chips. Hope you have a convenient source for them.[p]
