scotch broth [if you are old enough to remember]

grew up in the 50's and 60's [tuna noodle cassarole with campbells cream of mushroom or creme of celery jello salad etc] snow days meant campbells scotch broth.. except i never knew what it was,, looked it up a while back ... lamb, barley, carrots last nights post

bone in leg of lamb, what's left with 2 qts wegamns veg stock on the stove after dinner, over night outside, on the egg after the bacon smoke for a bit of smoke, back inside with celery and carrots served with buttered rosemary/olive oil toast from wegmans,,,i could die happy now , will always get lamb with bone

Looks great, yes I'm old enough to remember and I was raised by Scots grandparents, way better than Campbells.

Dang bill that really does look great!! Freezing my butt of trying to finnish up these fahetas. Got to cook the vegs well done for wife or makes her belly sick. I'm going to try that!!

untill tonight i never had anything but cambells and i have not had that for many many years,, more a childhood memory , which are more acute with my mothers recent passing.. that was the motivation to look it up.. talk about comfort food.... time for me to crash

you got to make it ,,,, talk about comfort happy food .. it was just fantastic. not a lot of work but it does have to cook for a long time to get the goodness out of the lamb. so good my finger almost stopped hurting

I loved Campbells scotch broth as a kid. If memory serves me the meat was listed as Mutton.

I don't think I ever had that as a kid. Maybe my mom didn't tell me I was eating lamb because I used to watch that kids show with that "Lambchops" puppet on it.

i never knew what was in it till i looked it up...
used the rest of bone in leg from wegmans and two qts of wegmans veg stock and a pinch of salt. 1/2 cup barley carrots and celery.. not only was i trip down memeory lane,, it was really really good.... i simmered the lamb for a long time.. give it a try..

campbells scothch broth on a day like to day when we came in from playing it the snow... if you like lamb this is a great way to use up the bone and leftovers
