<p />I just got a BGE pizza stone to replace the one from crate and barrel that cracked the first time I used it. This one seems much sturdier.
I broke it in tonight with a pesto pizza made with pesto sauce (obviously), ricotta cheese, mozzerella cheese, and squid cooked Nature Boy's way. The squid was interesting on the pizza--not something I'll add all the time, but certainly a tasty experiment. I wish I had cherry tomatoes in the house, because that with pesto on pizza is incredible. And as far as how the pizza looked, the picture will speak for itself.

    Aron,
Yeah baby! Funny....I was looking at your picture and was wondering if you put a couple big ol' hunks of tripe on there! Then I thought, maybe it is big chunks of onion. Then I thought squid...and said "naw". [p]After reading your message, I see you went squid all the way!! How did you season the squid? Would it be better cut into smaller pieces?? How did it go with the pesto sauce?? When I think about it, it seems like a tomato sauce might go better with squid. Maybe a quick squeeze of lime juice into the sauce. Just thinking! [p]Consider me inspired!![p]Anyway...nice lookin pie there Aaron. Seems like a pie-kinda-day!

    Nature Boy,
The squid was meant to be an appetizer, so I did it pretty much as your recipe in the archives mentions, but substituting teriyaki for soy. So it was teriyaki, rice vinegar, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, garlic, and ginger for the squid. Once the squid came off and the plate setter and stone were heating up, my girlfriend suggested we save a little squid and throw it on the pizza, so we did. I agree it'd probably be better with tomato sauce, but the pesto was already on the dough. Pretty good nonetheless. I'd definitely recommend trying squid on pizza though. Lots of people put shrimp on, and I think squid is better. Still I think I prefer land animals on pizza (especially a pesto one), but squid pizza was a nice change.
