A note to Houston-area Eggers

I made a trip down 45 S to League City (Kema area) this past Saturday to visit Chim-Chimneys, which is basically a fireplace store that also sells grills. Anyway, I made the trip b/c they were listed on this site as an Egg dealership. As it turns out, they carry all sizes except the Mini, as well as most of the accessories for all three sizes. Their prices are also much better than what I've seen in the BBQs Galore stores around Houston. For instance, they had a large Egg fully loaded with the standard accessories (including nest) for under $700.[p]They're having an official Grand Opening celebration on June 28th at which they will be cooking on several grills, including two Eggs, I believe. I might take the Mini down and join them--should be fun, plus a possible opportunity to talk up a future Eggfest in the Houston area.[p]No, this is not a plug for Chim-Chimneys, just some good information for those of us in TX who are dying for better Egg representation in our area.[p]TRex

TRex,
Hey...Thanks for the tip. Sounds like fun. Got it posted on my calendar. As bad as we need rain lets hope it doesn't on the 28th.[p]Spring Chicken

Spring Chicken,[p]Cool, hope to see you there![p]I think it hit 100 degrees here in Sugar Land yesterday - it's only mid-May. May save on some charcoal and do some cold smoking just by rolling the Egg into the sun.[p]TRex

TRex,
That is where I got my second egg, a small, last year. They were planning to move to another location to get more space. Sounds like they must have made the move. I really liked the woman who helped me (one of the owners) but I can't remember her name. I thought their prices were very good. I hope they are successful as a BGE dealer![p]At the time, she was planning to have a mini-version eggfest. I guess that is on the backburner for now. Did she mention anything like that?[p]Bob

WudEyeDoo,[p]You're thinking of Brenda - she's a pretty cool lady. They have moved to their new location. When I mentioned a mini Eggfest, she told me about the June 28 Grand Opening deal. However, with more interest from Eggers in the area I bet she would spring for an Eggfest. That's why it might be a good idea to show up on June 28 - show her that there is enough interest down here to do a Fest.[p]

TRex,
Know what you mean about the heat. My BBQ Center is on the west side of the house so the afternoon sun is keeping the temperature up near the 150 mark. By July it will probably be pushing 180. Almost enough to do a brisket.[p]I don't have a small enough Egg to take down there to do a cook but it might give me a chance to convince the wife that a second Egg, maybe a small, would be a good investment for when we travel. If I get one for traveling I will probably design a device to transport it and also serve as a table. Then I can be happy anywhere I wander, not to mention the others I will make happy.[p]I know a couple of Eggheads and will let them know about it.[p]You didn't mention their new address or time. Is it set yet? Keep me posted. [p]Spring Chicken

Spring Chicken,[p]Check out their website for all updated contact information. I'm not sure what time everything starts on 6/28, but I think they are usually open 10 - 4 on Saturdays.[p]I'll keep you posted as I find out more details.[p]TRex

TRex,
I might try to make that. I would like to meet you and Spring Chicken.

I called to make sure of the address and how to get to it. They are located just east of I-45 South at 830 West Main in League City. Here's a map for anyone who needs it.[p]See y'all there.[p]Spring Chicken

TRex,
Thanks for posting their website link. I was disappointed that they did not post information about the Big Green Egg. I called them to make sure of the address. Seem like nice folks. It is the place they moved into a few months ago. I posted a map above for the masses of BGE fans that will be arriving.[p]See you there[p]Spring Chicken
