Reading BGE Thermometer - Maximum

The thermometer which was in my new BGE when it arrived had a maximum temperature indication of 750 degrees. [p]If the BGE gets hotter than that, will the needle swing on around and indicate 100, 200 etc which would then be an actual 850, 950 etc ?

    Kyle,
It will swing around as you say, but I dont think anyone has ever compared its reading to an actual temp..I seriously doubt it could be reliable after coming back around to 200°.[p]Wess

    WessB,
I doubt it really matters once you're at that high a temp whether you're cooking at 900 or 950. Either way the food will be done pretty quick and needs watching.

    Kyle,
I'd recommend recalibrating the thermometer after this hot of a burn. In fact, on every critical temp cook, I calibrate mine....and it always needs a little adjustment. The high temp runs really throws mine out of whack. In fact, when the temp is at about 600 and on it's way up, I pull the thermometer and wing it on the actual temp...It's hot![p]Mike in MN
