OK Fest Cooking Plan

Here's what I'm thinking about doing for the OK Fest.
First, I'll bake some biscuits and fry up some Buckboard Bacon.
Then I'll make a big batch of Pato's refried beans.
Nancy has a baked fruit casserole that we've both been planning on trying in the Egg. That would come next.
And for the big finish, a tri-tip.

Mine will be the same boring thing. 6 slabs of baby backs. Working on a scallop recipe for the after party. Wonder if "Blondie and Dagwood" show up this year? :woohoo: I tell you later about that mess last year. Then will be helping DOW and Jon with what they want to do.
Mike -
Can you actually cook anything else??? :woohoo:
-
Damn Pete, you sure know how to cut thru the crap and get to the bottom of things.
-
In my opinion you will be doing nothing but cooking with that schedule. Maybe you should back off a little so you can see whatelse is going on. :S
-
To see blondie I would almost consider the trip.
Hey, let's do up some scallops when I come down in March. I have an unreal sauce for them. -
If he's cooking a contest with me two weeks later he better get all the practice he can.
-
They ask me to do a class and I do. I do toast well. :woohoo: :woohoo:
I know I will be doing something different in Hotlanta this year. Maybe spare ribs?
Mike -
LOL Hey sounds good.
Mike -
You're probably right. I'll drop the refries. That one is great, but takes a lot of effort.
-
nuttin' up my sleeves
:woohoo: :cheer: -
you keep cooking those babybacks because they're just not boring!!
-
Well that would be different!!!
I think these fests would be lost without your ribs and my hungryman breakfast... HAHA
Time to shake up the status quo don't ya think :woohoo: -
I was gonna say too much thinkin' and not enough cookin', but I think you will out think and out cooked yourself :woohoo:  :silly:
Remember you want to have fun too.. -
I'm with Rich. Keep it simple, and enjoy the sites and scenes. It's easy to get carried away, then the day is gone.
BTW, you still have 2 months to figure out what else to eliminate! heee
Cheers
Chris -
What's more fun that cookin'? :P
Uh, that you can do in public. :woohoo: -
First, how have you been? Still cooking a lot of jerky? I haven't for a couple years.
Chubby took over a slab of ribs in 06 and added his special spices. WOW, egret almost ate a whole slab.
I'll shoot you an email later on.
Mike -
good thinking Chris. Randy and I have finally decided to cut back on the cooking this year. Honestly...I enjoy standing there all day....
Kim -
No Iron Egg Chef for you?
Mike -
eatin' what others cook..
-
Well that certainly makes my job easier. I'll just warm up a honey bun early and hang out at your place the rest of the day LOL...

Doing well Mike, thanks. And still cooking jerky and experimenting. I had a salmon jerky disaster last weekend when my guru pro com 4 couldn't read temps and I had to leave the house for 10 hours. Bye, bye beautifully marinated salmon, 3 hours work and 40 bucks!I was a wee bit grumpy about that, but I'm back now.
Scott -
What, you don't like bacon biscuits?
-
Ya'll will have to excuse me just a little. This will only be my second fest, and the first one was the first event in Springfield. Mike probably remembers, but I think there were only about 20 of us cooking, so we had to keep things rolling!
-
Hey...I just came across these from last year...I was looking for "blondie" but Randy and I both can't remember...
-
Yeah Jeff, I used to do about five different things now like in Atlanta I just did one thing. Did a lot of them, but I could quit at any time and cruise around. -RP
-
Blondie was at the after party. She was pretty tanked. Her and her husband just wondered over.
-
See, I was going another way. Cook 3 or 4 things, but when they're gone, they're gone! Time to partaaaay!
-
Nice pic Kim, what a line up.
She was at the after party. With Dagwood that kept telling The Dog (from Des Moines) that Des Moines sucked. He got into the Heathens Water from the Lowrodz crew.
Mike -
How are you gonna do the ribs without me there to help
-
Yea, I cooked a few ribs. Then about 6 flat irons. I lost the rib throwdown with Candy Sue as she declared herself the winner. :(
If they have it at the same place, what a great party we could have. Just need a meet and greet and after party.
Mike
