I put a beef brisket on around 10:30am and it is still not done. It was approx 5.5lbs. Does this sound right? My meat thermometer has been around 170 for the past 2 hours. any advice?

Try moving the thermo probe to another spot and see what you get.
-
What is the temperature in your egg?
Have you tested and calibrated both thermometers? -
When you pull the temp. probe out does the meat resist it being removed. If it doesn't it's probably done. If it does resist, leave it on.

the temp finally increased and I was able to pull it off. It taste great. I just have to be a little more patient. thanks for all the input.
