BGE Lump Expiriation Date

Does the BGE Lump or anyother brand of lump get out of date or will it last if you keep it dry.???

I don't know about such things because I am just a caveman (SNL ref). I would think that it would be alright if kept dry.

Being that it is carbonized hard wood I would think with proper storage it would have a “half-life” of 10,000 years!

For the answer to this question, we can look to none other than Martha Stewart. She used to sell chunk charwood in Kmart. The bag said that if you kept it dry and kept the bag closed it would last 10 years. I suspect it will last 10 thousand years.

Thanks folks for response, i dont think ill last 10,000 yrs, i just got 2 bags of BGE lump and one of the bags looked like it had been around a while.

Considering they are finding charcoal in Roman ruins, I don't think you should worry about it going past Martha Stewart's expiration date.

Put a piece someplace safe and dry with a note to post on the forum in 10,000 years if it's still usable..
