Charcoal help?

I don't know if anyone has noticed but, the price increase of BGE charcoal has went up to 23.00 per bag, which is an increase of 5.00 dollars. Just wondering what alterative suggestions the users of the other brands has? Also, if you could include price, brand, and where to buy? Suggestions please

From what I've noticed all of Royal Oaks products have increased. I use Royal Oak purchased at Walmart for $6.39 per 10lb bag. Its the same thing.

All I use now is Royal Oak from Wal-Mart. 6.43 a 10 pound bag. Its seasonal in some locations.

If I had to pay $23 a bag for charcoal, my Eggs would be for sale in a heartbeat, but I'll let the local Atlantans advise you on where to go there. I buy it by the pallet for less than $9./20# bag. Mark

Since you live in Atlanta here are two things that may help:

1..if you buy 4 or more bags at one time from the Mothership you used to get a discount...ask if that still applies

2. Get a membership to Restaurant Depot (no you don't have to own a restaraunt) and you can get RO 20# bags for less tha $10 per bag...it may be South American but I like the price....

Wow, $23 is good considering out here on the west coast the BGE distributor has a suggested retail price for the BGE charcoal at $29.99.

The only requirement to get a membership is to have a business license. There are no fees. I shop there for meat mostly, there have a huge selection of PRIME meat. It is a neat place to get to know.

RO at Wallyworld just went up .11 per pound since last month!! oh the shame, it was $5.29 now $6.39!! i may have to sell my egg so i can afford gas for my Hummer.........

Like DrZaius said any busines license or a tax resales number. I got my membership with my electrical contractors licence. In fact I just registered a fellow egger that is a project manager for me in the Orlando store. So if you don't have a licence but a frend does thay can get you a card. the meat department makes costco look like 7 eleven.

Also you can get a membership if you are associated with a charity 501c3 group...
