1st Annual Junior World BBQ Championships, July 4, 2009 - Lake Placid, NY

Open to youths, ages 16-21 teams or individuals (2 adult advisors allowed) KCBS sanctioned competitor series.

    Thanks for that Linda. Just told my nephew Kenny, (3 kids Q grand championships in 3 years at New Holland) and he really should try this. Been thinking about competing at Lake Placid anyways, so maybe we'll bring everyone up for this one.

    Wow, they allow adult supervisors for this age group?? They should be able to cook it by themselves. Any chance of this becoming an adult contest..with the "supervisors" telling them when to adjust temps and when to take the meat off? 16-21 year olds in the "world championships" should know that by now!

  • there will be no hands on from the adults and it will be carefully monitored. Teenagers are too young to travel alone so that is the reason for adult supervisors. If you read the rules on the website this is a very detailed event and will rely on the kids abilities.
