Smoked Salmon tonight
Firetruck
Posts: 2,679
Last time I did this was a year ago. Seasoned with DP Ragin River, Kosher salt, and six pepper fusion. Then brushed it with melted butter, worcestershire, and balsamic vinegar mixture. Added apple chips for extra smoke and cooked on cedar plank. At the end of the cook I sprinkled brown sugar lightly over all and a dash of lemon juice. The apple chips were a little too much smoke but overall very tasty.
Seasoned and ready for the egg

Just about done

I knew that snow was good for something, it put out the plank

and plated

Thanks Steve it was pretty good.

JoJo man that looks like some good stuff. Gonna have to do a round of salmon soon now maybe some pacific rim style salmon. Looks like you got snow instead of ice.

Yup we were lucky, just enough to cover the roads and close the schools. Spent the day with the family by the fire looking at the pretty snow covered trees. Finished the day watching my new movie "Fireproof".

Sounds like a great day, great meal, and great entertainment.

That salmon looks fantastic! Great job! Is the 6 pepper fusion just a peppercorn blend?

JoJo,
That looks like a healthy meal! I would love to try it but I have this thing about fish. In the short time since I have been eggin', I find that the food I cook on it tastes so much better. Please excuse me if this is a stupid question but Is the salmon very "fishy" cooked on the egg?
Thanks, -
If you buy fresh salmon, you don't get a strong fishy taste. Find out what day your local store gets their fish in fresh, buy some that day and you will get good salmon. That said, salmon has it's own distinct taste, unlike other fish, and some people just don't like that, while others love it.
I think if you were to try the DP Salmon and Maple recipe you would be amazed at how good it tastes! -
Thanks Clark,
I will check with the local seafood shop and give this a try. I guess I'll find the DP Salmon and Maple recipe on the forum? I'm a gastric by-pass patient so I need to eat lots of protein and salmon has lots of it. Maybe this will be the soloution for me to eat salmon. Maybe I'll have to try tuna this way also.
Thanks again,
Jamie O.
