"Spider Web" cracks on egg exterior

I'm at a friends house, and his egg has what appear to be cracks that look like a bunch of tiny spider webs on his egg. Not affecting performance. Anyone familiar with it? Should he call mothership? Sorry no pix, don't have my camera.

Its not uncommon for glazed ceramic surfaces to get tiny cracks, called "crazing." Its a minor flaw, usually not serious. I've never seen crazing that was all associated with center-spots, like spider webs. Usually there are some centers, but mostly random. However, I wouldn't be concerned unless it looked like bits of glaze were ready to flake off. That could indicate deeper damage, and/or allow water to settle into the ceramic, and freeze.
FWIW, I have 2 mediums, bought a year apart. One developed crazing in the first few months. The other did not. Have noticed no difference in function for either. -
This is normal. You can read about it at the Ceramic Charcoal Cooker FAQ. Good luck! The Naked Whiz

Okay, has anyone else noticed crazing diminishing or vanishing? My medium developed some several years ago, but I don't see it anymore.

Thanks to all.
