so, if I buy an egg for somebody else and plan to deliver it in 2 months, how much is it OK to use it and cart it to work before it loses any value?

Oh anne you can just imagine that brand new white interior just wanting to be seasoned and loved, making sure it is broken in correctly. It would be hard to resist, like being the first to drive a new car on a beautiful spring day.

Wow, after thinking all that, it does seem a little selfish to rob the new owner of that pleasure.

I say give it to them brand new and enjoy their expression of gratitude.

I would think that amount of use you can do on this egg would be proportional to how well armed the person you bought it for is!!

Is it a gift or are you just picking it up for someone? Is it going to be a surprise? If it is a surprise then no way! They should get a new pristine egg. If it were for a friend or a relative, then I would ask first. If it's for a buddy, I would use it all day long and twice at night, for quality control purposes, of course.

Nothing beats the experience of lighting a clean white egg for the first time.

I'd love to get my hands on those perfect eggs they show in all the BGE ads. The owners are able to cook without any fire or any associated smoke on the inside. I just looked through the brochure my dealer gave me when I picked up my mini and all the pics show people cooking without fire.

Hey Todd,,,just to clear it up or confuse Gene found me a great deal on a mini down here that Mike wants now but Gene also found a small for me so the eggs will go to Ocala and the exchanges made in the parking lot like a drug deal :laugh:
bottom line is I'll have a small and Mike will have a mini (that I'm cooking on now as Gene is probably doing with the small) so we are just having fun busting each others chops :woohoo: :laugh:

Roofing tar and trash burning are 2 things I did not think of. I did think I could carry it with me to heat up branding irons for cattle.
