Small egg break in time

I'm wondering if my small egg is broke in yet. I only used it one other time to make some fattes. Which was 250 degreees for 3 hours. I want to cook some hanger steaks tonite and they need to be cooked at 500 degrees. Is it too soon to cook at that temp? Don't want to ruin my gasket.

Keep the flame away from the gasket. The flare ups to a bare minimum. You'll be fine.

Thanks Pete!

Had my small on the low temp "don't cook the gasket" mode for the first 6 cooks. Cooked gasket on cook number 7. I have never been able to get the temp above 425 EVER.

As long as the dollar bill test works, cook away! Make sure a dollar bill is difficult to pull out with two fingers all the way around the gasket.
