Rib Rack

Newbie here. I plan on smoking some baby backs tomorrow for the first time. I will not be able to get a rib rack beforehand. Will this be a problem or will the grate suffice?

Depends on how many racks you are doing. If it is 2, you can lay them across the grid flat.

it's 2 Crimson gator. Don't know if your a bama fan, but i was in N.O. last night. Bama fans were going crazy BEFORE the game.

The wife is crimson, I plan on going crazy this Thursday.

For the ribs, Just lay them flat on the grid (indirect set-up). Be careful, the tips may get burned from the air flow around the platesetter. I have seen folks fasion alum foil around the edges for a few hours to offset this. It is up to you.

3. Run to your hardware store or wherever and get a cheap Weber rib rack if you are worried about the ribs. I have one and they are cheap, like $12, and fit in the egg really nice. They also fit really well in a propane grill (if you ever plan to use yours again!).

For Xmas I cooked 6 slabs with it and it is only supposed to hold 4, but I used the front end and back end and stabilizers for the other racks. turned out well. There is a half a rack because half was getting too done so I ate it!
