Local Fireplace Retailer (Specialty not Big Box Retailer) or a Masonry Supply Company are two great sources.
-
Go to a masonry supply store and get "splits"
-
masonry suppliers, lowe's, home despot. ace should be able to order them, if they don't have them on hand.
(for 90% of lo-and-slo cooks, regular bricks are fine. just don't use them for extended periods at thermonuclear temps)ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
What are you going to use them for? BTW. You may not need a true fire brick. Standard Masonry Units will withstand the temps we use.

probably not a lot of fireplace/ woodstove places down there, i would try masonry/brick yards. i use both standard and split firebricks, get extra as they come in handy just to sit a big hot pot on.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Hey Rookie, they also sell them at Tractor Supply if you have one of those around
-
I bought my last batch from a brickyard. Local Home Depot and Lowes don't have them in the store. I once found some in a Home Depot in a more rural location, though. The Naked Whiz

I just recently went on Ace's web site and ordered a box of fire bricks delivered to my local Ace. No charge for delivery but rather expensive, I think a box of six "split" cost me around 15 or 16 dollars.

Just checked their web site and they are still available but now they are charging $19.99. Thought we were in a recession!!!???

Thanks I will try one of those recommended.
