Medium Overnight No Digi-Q

OK. I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but want a second opinion.
I want to do a few small butts on my medium and I'm thinking a late (say 10PM) start with a full load of lump will be the way to go for a nice overnight cook. Don't really want to wake up until say 7:00AM or so to check it. I've done long all day cooks so this should be no different right?
My question is what are some of the "long" cooks folks have done on the MED?

Did this shoulder a couple weeks back on my medium. 250F for around 16 hours or so and still had lump left. I think it could have gone a few more hours without any problem. I didn't even get the guru out on this cook.

strategy-wise i can't help re: the medium.
but, if you are nervous simply check before you go to bed, then set your alarm for 4 am. the fire cannot instantly go out, which means even a stone cold egg at 4am will not be a food-safety issue (assuming you hit the sack at 11 or so). then, when you wake up at 7 or 8 am, you will safe again, even with a stone cold egg. if it went out both times, well, can't help you there, but the fire only needs to be checked once at night (if at all)ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
I did this picnic on my medium. Took about 14-15 hours if I recall.

Load it with lump to the top of the firebox. Light it in 3 places and make sure your temps are stable with everything but the meat in the egg. Let it sit for at least 30-45 minutes and make sure your temps are stable. Add the meat and walk away. Check it in an hour and make sure your temps are back where you left them (I highly recommend 250-260 dome temp).
I also recommend checking every 3-4 hours just in case. You can save a cook if the fire has been out a couple hours; if the fire has been out more than that you may end up with ten pounds of extra dog feed. -
