Our local grocery store has whole rib eyes on sale this week cut and wrapped free. My question is what besides the bone is the difference between the two?

There is really no difference. Some people like the bone because it gives the meat a richer flavor. Some people like to chew on the bone. The price for bone in ribeye will usually be cheaper. Good luck to you. Tom

Rib Eyes are steaks and Standing Rib Roast is a honking cut of beef.

or are you referring to a rib roast vs. standing rib roast?? in that case it's just the bones and all that yummy meat between the bones..

a boneless ribeye roast will have alot of the fat removed as well. they are called delmonico roasts in my neighborhood.

when they go boneless, not only the bones but a lot of the fat is lost. fat is flavor. it ain't the bones that add flavor, it's the stuff in between, and the fat. sometimes you can get a bone-in roast to be de-boned, then have the bones and fat tied back on.

"rib eye" is the roast. just as a "eye of the round" is a roast. from the rib eye you can cut steaks, which would be rib-eye steaks.

Like stike mentioned flavor is a big difference, and considering you are not paying for bone weight, you could say rib eye roasts are a better value. You can specify loin end or chuck end, I like the chuck end better.
