It worked after all!
Thanks to everyone who hit me back with tips and suggestions after my post "this isn't working". The butts turned out perfect. Everybody said the bbq was good. They cooked for about 17hrs. Someone said their lump was burning out after about 13hrs. Well, I followed Elder Ward's instructions on how to place the lump and it only burned about half. I tried to maintain 200 in the beginning but about halfway through, I bumped it up to 220-230. A special thanks to Mr. Ward and to Sippi for the phone call. This forum is really helpful! Next weekend...RIBS! Go Jr.!!!!!

I'm really glad that it worked out. There is a learning curve cooking on any cooker for the first few times. This Board will substantially shorten the curve on the BGE.

Where is MS are you located? I'm working as a contractor at the Nissan plant in Canton. I live in Michigan usually, but have been spending 25 days a month in MS - looks like I'll be there at least 12 more months.[p]Mr Beer
