The only ones I have ever seen was on Iron Chef America and it was called a Buddha's Hand.
Hell I am still trying to locate a local source for Blood Oranges..
If you find a souce let us all know. -
I've never seen it, but there is a huge International Supermarket that specializes in Asian goods about a mile from my office. I would be happy to look for some preserved or dried and send them your way if you don't have any luck finding it locally.
I would even ship fresh if I can find them and it makes sense to do so. -
What about Dekalb?? Food Network buys all the stuuf for their shows in that big market on the first floor of the building they are in. Isn't DeKalb a similar setup?
If you see any blood oranges

i can try the two here first, maybe they will have it, biggest problem is the language barrier for me, sometimes they have someone that speaks english, sometimes not.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Dekalb Farmers Market may have it, but that is a pretty good haul from where I am. I don't get down there very often.
This place is the Gwinnett International Farmers Market. They have a huge produce section and the biggest seafood department I've ever seen inland. They have dozens of different fish species swimming in tanks that they will clean to order. The place is built in the old Bass Pro Shop building and is busting at the seams. This part of town has a very large Asian customer base - mainly Korean and Vietnamese. I have seen stuff in there that you don't find anywhere else. They may even carry Kobe beef.
I'll swing over there in the next couple days. I'm certain they will have blood oranges. -
In Greenville,S.C....Gerald's Holiday Baking Center 1-864-271-8014..Has Citron. Miles out.

If I ever get back to work I might have to consider a trip down there for the Seafood alone.
I am really surprised how Culinary Deprived this area of North Carolina is.
Hell even the BBQ here is Mediocre at best. -
Not if your cookin it.

Are you making fruit cake? I haven't looked for a while but they used to carry candied citron in the baking aisle at Market Basket.

The citron I have used is a candied fruit. It is usually found with the other candied fruits (cherry, pineapple, lemon peel, etc.) and used in fruit cakes. I was told a long time ago that it was the candied rind of a watermelon looking fruit.

celtic wolf's article (from wikipedia) says that there's little or no good pulp in a citron, and quite a thick white pith or whatever the heck it's called, and that the only real use for it is as a candied citrus peel.
interesting. the peel is more valuable than the fruit itself.
scroll to "uses", and find "succade". it's the candied peel.
