Boston Butt vs Picnic
Comments
-
Howdy BobM,
Both cuts are from the shoulder, and both make fine pulled pork. Most seem to prefer the boston butt, which has a little bit of a higher yield, no skin to mess with, and a slightly milder flavor. You can't go wrong with either one though. The link below has some info and photos that should help.[p]Beers to you!

BobM,[p]Picnic is cheaper per pound, but there's more bone. Maybe one day when I need a lot of barbecue I'll buy one of each and see which yields more meat. The dogs appreciate the bigger bone. I've used both for several years and can't taste the difference. More important is buying a fresh one and cooking it the way you like it. I usually just buy whichever is on sale.
